Breaking boundaries, what does it mean? I understand it as being innovative, trying something new or doing something in a different way, breaking away from the norm, or if your like me it means pushing the limits and breaking a few “rules” of what society considers normal.
I love being innovative and trying new things, it gives me the chance to break away from the same boring routine in my life. My life was so boring before I started blogging, it was the same routine of work, home, work, home, work, home with the occasional outing here and there, it made me so lazy that I stopped taking care of myself and started to feel reclusive. But somewhere inside me was that little sparkle, dimly lit but still there waiting for a spurt of confidence to rev it up into overdrive, it took me a little while to build the confidence again but I knew it was coming, and it did, and it even pushed me into boundary breaking mode, the way I dress and view myself has completely evolved! Five years ago I never would have considered an off shoulder top, I felt so insecure about my shoulders, thinking they were too broad and wide, I wouldn’t even consider trying anything on unless it had sleeves. But times have changed and I’ve changed, I’ve learned to accept so much about myself and not worry about my insecurities, eventually most of my insecurities disappeared and have never been heard from again!
This brings me to my new dress, the Addition Elle Sleeveless Bandeau Lace Dress. This dress is amazing! The first thing I noticed after putting it on is how comfortable it is, it rests so nicely off the shoulders and fits so comfortably, it truly is a fun and flirty dress.
The dress is made of a stretch type fabric and has an inner lining. I’m wearing a size 20 but could have easily gone down a size.
The lace is really nice, it adds texture to the look making it a not so typical “little black dress”.
I needed a pop of colour so I chose my teal clutch from Call It Spring, it has a long gold coloured chain that fastens on the inside but I prefer to hold it with my hands.
My necklace was purchased from the Bay, the colour is what caught my attention. It’s not heavy which I really like, I can’t stand wearing heavy jewelry, it’s too distracting. The Bay has a lot of great jewelry and the prices are always reasonable.
Yes that is a bra strap you are seeing, I’m sure some people may think the strap shouldn’t be visible with this type of dress but you know what? I really don’t care because I like it! I think it looks good! After all, I’m here to break boundaries!
