“Every great thing starts out a little scary, doesn’t it” From the book and movie Warm Bodies. I couldn’t have found a better quote to express my fear, and feeling, starting this blog!
I have to admit, it was a little intimidating and a bit scary when I started, it’s like that feeling you get when you plan a great party….you know the feeling…..you prepare the food, decorate the venue, send the invitations, plan the theme, music, place settings, and then when the night arrives you patiently wait and wonder “will anyone even come?”. It’s kind of the same feeling starting a blog, the idea comes, you start planning, organizing your ideas, plan your launch, research, draft, take photos, then after you’ve released your first post, you sit back and wonder “Will anyone like my idea of fashion? Will my writing suck? Will I inspire anyone?”. All these things went through my mind, but then I remembered that my fears have never stopped me before from doing what I enjoy and making a name for myself, I’ve always been fearless and experienced amazing things, been to amazing places and walked roads less travelled, so why should I worry about blogging? I won’t, because I’m am here to have fun, show my creative side, show my love of fashion, and make new friends!
So this brings me to here, my first blog post! It took me a little longer than expected to get this first post out, my work week kept me busy, my personal life was crazy busy and then there were a few social outings with friends, but then the weekend arrived and I finally got a chance to get caught up and re-evaluate my blogging goals. I’ve decided to commit to two blog posts a week with regular outfit-of-the-day posts on my Facebook page and Instagram page. In addition to my personal style I plan on featuring one lovely, curvy lady every month to capture her style, find out what inspires her, and share her ideas on fashion.
Now onto the fashion! For my first blog post I chose the #Iamsizesexy top from Addition Elle! This is new favourite top! I wear it with everything, skinny jeans, distressed boyfriend jeans, red trousers, and as shown in these photos, the wet-look legging. This short sleeved top has a scooped neck, fitted design, and made of 95% rayon and 5% spandex giving it that comfy, stretchy soft feeling, however I highly recommend washing it in cold water and letting it air dry on a flat surface, like most knit fabrics it will shrink if thrown in the dryer. The wet-look leggings were also purchased at Addition Elle, a few years ago, and have obviously lasted a long time! The blazer in the last photo is a simple black blazer purchased during an end of the season sale at Penningtons last spring, think I paid $19 for it, and the shoes I got on sale for $34 at Payless. The scarf in the last picture is the Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse leopard print scarf purchased two years ago, it is made of cashmere and silk and is super soft!
Anyone who knows me knows that I tend to wear a lot of black….and white….but mostly black 🙂 I don’t know what it is, I just gravitate towards the dark side….of the clothing rack 😛 But I’m getting better at picking out prints, bold colours and textures but for my first post I chose to go with black, don’t worry, colour is coming!
Thanks for reading my first entry, feel free to leave me a comment and tell me what you think, I love hearing from you 🙂
